Congolese singer-songwriter, Achille Mouebo is an artist who stands out for his way of making musical art. His compositions differ from the classical works of other young musicians of his time. Born in Pointe-Noire in 1971, he began his musical career in the 1990s. The artist-musician sings and plays guitar and draws on his ancestral tradition, in the Kuni culture, from which he drew his rhythm or his musical genre, the ''Mutenfo''. He also calls himself the King of Mutenfo-pop or the Mutenfomane. ''Station-service is the title of his next album.
It was in 1990 that the artist Achille Mouebo began his artistic career with his single "Satan m'a jalousé". A rock-&-roll title, which relates his state of health, due to an infirmity that struck him down from a young age.
His music is a fusion of pop and traditional rhythms (mutenfo-pop), which signifies joy, atmosphere and good humor, a dance from the Kuni region with Afro-zouk and Afro-beat sounds.
The artist has several albums in his musical bag. His discography is as follows:
2001: Filiation; 2005: Vipère; 2006: Kiwisa featuring with Rapha Boundzéki; 2007: L'invité; 2009: Onésime; 2011: Faux prophète; 2015: Moral crisis and in this year 2024, the King of Mutenfo is giving us a new album entitled Station-Service, which is due to be released soon. Recipient of several awards, including Tam-tam d’or, Special Jury Prize for Métis music at Mombo Beach in Owando in 2009, Achille Mouebo has acquired over the years a remarkable and commendable reputation, thanks to his popular compositions.
Inspired by everyday reality, the artist-musician sings scenes from everyday life, stigmatizing negative and retrograde behaviors, which prevent human beings in general from flourishing in all their fullness.
Like Johnny Halliday, Georges Brassens or Jean-Jacques Goldman, the artist has drawn a lot from their halo. He has drawn on the way of doing things of these world-renowned artists. Using the local languages Kituba or Lingala and Kuni, an ethnic group from the departments of Niari and Bouenza, Achille Mouébo mixes humor and derision to get a message across. A message that makes him an awakener of consciences for the well-being in current Congolese society, in particular, this juvenile society which, day by day, is declining in the unusual, which shocks good habits and good morals. The education of a child is essential in society, because it will become the epicenter with regard to learning, the pedagogy of this offspring. Youth, in particular, needs more than supervision and permanent assistance for the smooth running of their mental, psychic, psychological and spiritual elevation. Using a theme linked to everyday life, therefore to everyday life, Achille Mouebo gives a real meaning to morality. In his upcoming maxi-single "Station-service", the artist gives a message of love for one's neighbor in a world where fraternity and solidarity will reign from now on, living together between fellow citizens and compatriots. The single will have a total of four tracks, namely: Kuni Nudi; Amour chewing-gum; Vie sans vie and the eponymous track, ''Station-service'', an album that will soon be available on all download platforms and clips already available. This single is the artist's big comeback on the phonographic market.
