POLITICS/BENIN: "Tax clearance, silence, we keep quiet", Djènontin's harsh criticism of Les Démocrates

Benin: reaction of Valentin Djènontin, after the release of his son, Elie

The closer the 2026 general elections are, the more the leaders of the Les Démocrates party are opting for deafening silence in the face of the challenges that the people face daily.

Faced with this stance, former minister Valentin Djènontin broke his silence again on Monday, November 4 and attacked Boni Yayi and his entourage, members of the Les Démocrates party, which nevertheless claims to be the party of the people.

For the former Minister of Justice under President Boni Yayi, if the leaders of the Les Démocrates party think that it is by keeping silent about everything that they will get their tax clearance for the upcoming elections, it is because they have not understood anything yet.

"You who have your eyes fixed on the 2026 general elections, either to renew your seat as a deputy or to run for the supreme office, what game are you playing? Do you honestly believe that it is by your silence in the face of the excesses, the numerous scandals of the regime that you will obtain your tax clearance?", he asked.

For Valentin Djènontin, the real assurance, the real guarantee, is in the hands of the people that these democratic deputies claim to represent in the National Assembly. If we believe him, this collective silence of the democrats will lead them straight into the wall.

"Are you sure that it is the exiles whose heads are also put at a price by all means by the regime who will alone continue to awaken the people while you do not care at all about their fate, just as those who rot in prison are not part of your priorities?", he asked.

The former minister assures that if their position is dictated by the fear of death, they will die anyway as long as their fight is not that of the people but that of their private interest.
