ECONOMY/TOGO: Youth Delivery Lab, a meeting of young Togolese around a citizen dialogue in Lomé

Called in French “Youth Thinking Lab”, the Youth Delivery Lab (YDL) is a conference focused on the exchange and sharing of civic values, initiated by the Togolese association of young professionals known as Youth For Youth (Y4Y). The event brought together this Saturday September 9, 2023 in Lomé, some 500 young professionals and political figures.

This first edition was chaired on behalf of the Head of State by Mrs. Sandra Ablamba Johnson, Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, in the presence of the Minister-Counsellor, Stanislas Baba and many other collaborators of the President of the Republic. Republic.

The initiative, which aims to evaluate the contributions of this segment of the Togolese population to national development ambitions, is placed under the high patronage of the President of the Togolese Republic, Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE. The first of its kind, its theme is “From the promotion of local start-ups to the emergence of national champions: strategic issues and challenges to be met in Togo”.

The meeting was marked by the presence of eminent personalities including Minister Sandra Ablamba Johnson, representative of the Head of State Faure Gnassingbé. Questions relating to civic-mindedness, patriotism and the promotion of young talents were at the heart of the discussions.

“We want to encourage young people to the culture of citizenship and patriotism, but also to make the YDL a tool to put the innovative capacities and dynamism of young people at the service of development”, and to make it “a means for inform public and private authorities about the expectations of young people,” specified the initiators.

“I would like to pay well-deserved tribute to the Head of State for his vision in favor of young people. We have a President who is available to accompany you, to support youth entrepreneurship through pragmatic reforms and the establishment of related mechanisms, including the presidential program of excellence. These efforts cannot be achieved without the clear will of young people,” she declared.

Minister Sandra Ablamba Johnson invited Togolese youth to endorse the noble values of patriotism, citizen participation, excellence and humility.

In an educational approach, she shared her experience with these young people and provided them with useful advice by encouraging them to be players in the private sector that foster growth.

The Minister-Advisor to the Head of State, Mr. Stanislas Baba invited young people to honesty, citizenship, more professional conscience and ardor to better assert their potential and creative genius.

The head of the Youth For Youth association, Abdul-Fahd Fofana, on behalf of the participants and other members, thanked the President of the Republic for his support of this citizen body whose main objective is to provide the capacity to innovation and dynamism of young people in the service of the nation.

In Togo, according to the final results of the 5th general population and housing census (RGPH-5), youth represent a significant part of the population with an average growth of 2.3% annually between 2010 and 2022.
